An American Family Christmas 2024

Dec. 13 & 14 @ 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 15 @ 1:30 p.m.
Five Points Performing Arts Center
360 N. Wilmor Road, Washington.

Join the Peoria Area Civic Chorale and guests December 13-15 for our next presentation of An American Family Christmas!

The repertoire will feature some of retiring Artistic Director and Conductor Dr. Joseph D. Henry’s favorite Christmas music!

Each performance will include many artistic settings of sacred carols such as O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Silent Night/Still Still Still,” “He is Born,” and “The Wexford Carol” along with more contemporary favorites like “Mary, Did You Know,””All is Well,” “Winter Wonderland,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year.” The Chorale and a large instrumental ensemble will also take audience members on a “Musicological Journey” through the twelve days of Christmas in a piece that reflects multiple musical styles from Gregorian chant to Wagnerian opera to a Sousa march.

Special guests Rudolph, Santa, and Mrs. Claus will join the singers on stage for “Up on the Housetop,” “Believe (from The Polar Express)”, and “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” They will remain on stage for a meet and greet photo opportunity for children during intermission.

The chorale is pleased to offer the opportunity for over 100 young singers to share its stage. The Peoria Area Civic Chorale’s Youth Chorus, under the direction of Ms. Alison Meuth, will perform three selections. On Friday night, a Junior High Festival Chorus of 6th through 8th grade singers will perform two selections under the direction of Ms. Linda Betzelberger.

Each performance will feature a talented teen Young Artist Competition winner: Tyler Weaver of Peoria (Friday), Ruby Hall of Dunlap (Saturday) and Ava Jane Fischer of Germantown Hills (Sunday). These young singers will each receive a scholarship for music education in addition to the opportunity to perform during An American Family Christmas.

A cake reception sponsored by Lexus of Peoria will follow the Friday and Saturday evening concerts.

Get into the Yuletide spirit with beautiful music from classical carols and secular holiday favorites! It just isn’t Christmas until you’ve experienced the Peoria Area Civic Chorale’s “An American Family Christmas!”
