Our special guest artist is accomplished classical tenor soloist and jazz trumpeter Michael Jones. Jones, a Peoria native, performs nationwide as a soloist and chamber musician. He currently sings with the Grammy Nominated professional chamber choir, The Crossing, appears regularly at The Green Mill, Chicago’s legendary jazz club, with Alan Gresik and the Swing Shift Orchestra and has performed on five Downbeat Award-winning recordings. Michael graduated from the Peoria High School’s Preparatory School for the Arts, obtained a Bachelors degree in Jazz Trumpet from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and earned his Masters in Jazz Trumpet from Northwestern University.

The Peoria Area Civic Chorale’s charity partner for America’s Favorite Songs, Hymns and Anthems is the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The Chorale’s founding Artistic Director Barth Dowling, who conducted from 1982-1994, passed away in 2017 from Lewy Body Dementia which is the second most common form of progressive dementia after Alzheimer’s. The chorale is sponsoring a fundraiser for LBDA during our concert in Barth’s honor.
